These Alba Pura bath water dechlorinator salts remove ALL chlorine from your bathing and washing water. Using a bath water dechlorinator can be particularly useful for those with asthma & eczema, psoriasis and multiple chemical sensitivity but some types of bath dechlorinators and water dechlorinator give off zinc - this product contains no zinc. Sometimes there is so much residual chlorine present in tap water that you can even SMELL it. Almost anywhere in the U.K. (and many other countries), if you pour a hot bath and lean over it as it fills, your nose will pick up the bleachy smell of chlorine, something not always immediately obvious in a glass of the same water served cold. The removal of this residual chlorine is important for two main reasons.

(1) Chlorine is added to tap water to kill harmful bacteria and other
micro-organisms and even at the normal levels of a few parts per million, is extremely aggressive and effective in this role. Chlorine will also kill the ‘good’ bacteria on the surface of your skin – bacteria that we all rely on for continued health and wellbeing and which have evolved in symbiosis with humans over millions of years. Healthy skin has around 32 million bacteria per sq. inch; and these good bacteria help to control the presence of ‘bad’ bacteria, yeasts like candida and other troublesome micro-organisms; to upset this delicate balance can lead to problems such as itchy, flaky skin, eczema, psoriasis, sweat rash, dandruff, multiple chemical sensitivity, aquagenic pruritis (itchy skin caused solely by bathing in water) and persistently irritated skin. The use of these bath water dechlorinator salts (dechlorinator bath salts, dechlorinator bathsalts) helps maintain a normal and healthy skin flora and so avoid these problems.

(2) Recent studies by, amongst others, Imperial College London and by
Belgian scientists, have linked exposure to such trace amounts of chlorine gas with the exponential growth of the incidence of ASTHMA in children in the western world. Asthma is now of epidemic proportions! At the time of writing there were 20,000 related documents linking asthma to chlorine on the internet! When used for drinking, bottled or filtered water may be the answer, but for bathing/washing purposes the use of these bath water dechlorinator salts remove ALL such inhalation and contact risk.
